Before the wedding (usually 4–6 weeks out)
Despite the name, they don’t just show up that day.
- Review all your contracts, vendors, and details
- Build or finalize your master timeline
- Do a venue walkthrough
- Confirm details with every vendor (DJ, photographer, caterer, etc.)
- Plan logistics like setup, transitions, and flow
On rehearsal day
- Run the ceremony rehearsal
- Line up wedding party and explain timing
- Coordinate cues (music, entrances, etc.)
On the wedding day
This is where they really earn their money:
- Point of contact for ALL vendors (you don’t answer calls/texts)
- Manage and enforce the timeline
- Handle setup (decor, seating, signage)
- Cue ceremony (processional, music, readings)
- Coordinate reception events (grand entrance, toasts, first dance, etc.)
- Solve problems quietly (late vendors, weather issues, missing items)
- Direct guests and wedding party
- Often assist with teardown at the end
👉 In short: they let you actually enjoy your wedding instead of running it.
What they DON’T do
- They don’t usually book vendors
- They don’t design your wedding
- They’re not full planners (that’s a different, more expensive service)
